KVIC Appoints Design and Fashion Icon Sunil Sethi, as Advisor The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has appointed Shri Sunil Sethi, a leading personality in the Indian fashion industry, as its advisor. Sethi will advise the Commission on latest design interventions in the readymade garments segment as well as promotion of Khadi in India and abroad. According to a statement of KVIC, Mr Sethi’s appointment is for a period of one year. Earlier, renowned fashion designer Ms Ritu Beri served as advisor to KVIC whose term expired recently. KVIC launched Sandalwood and Bamboo plantation, a new initiative to spur monetization of its assets The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), in a first of its kind initiative has begun exploring the untapped but highly profitable venture of sandalwood and bamboo tree plantation for monetization of its assets. Seeking to encourage commercial plantation of sandalwood and bamboo, the KVIC has begun a drive with plantation of 500 saplings each of sandalwood and bamboo at its Nashik training center spread over 262 acres of land. Hon’ble Union Minister for MSME, Shri Nitin Gadkari has also lauded the initiative of KVIC. KVIC takes action against sales outlets found Indulging malpractices In a swift but stern action taken by Khadi &Village Industries Commission (KVIC) management, 11 out of 13 outlets of Mumbai Khadi & Village Industries Association (MKVIA), a recognized  institutions of KVIC were sealed for indulging in unfair trade practice. Mumbai Khadi association is one of the oldest directly aided Khadi Institution associated with KVIC.  The revelations began when during the year 2017-18, as part of a regular physical verification of Khadi Bhawans of the  association, the KVIC officials took several samples of the fabric. On testing of the samples it was observed that the   samples were proved to be non-Khadi. KVIC plans to go Global, To organise 150 Exhibitions across the World in 2 Months – Giriraj Singh The Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has started exhibiting its products in major overseas markets. In the first phase, KVIC organised exhibition in 10 centres on August 15 followed by another 50 centres on the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti on Tuesday.
